Is it something
more sinister
than age and
makeup?! Fans
think Avril
looks much
different than
she did when
she started out
THE RUMOR THAT JUST WON’T DIE:
AVRIL IS DEAD!
Hey,fans,whyyougottabesocomplicated?Theinternet
celebrated the 15th anniversary of Avril Lavigne’s debut
single on May 14…by dredging up the rumor that she died
back in 2003. Since then, we’ve apparently all been fooled by
an actress named Melissa Vandella, a look-alike hired to take
over the life of the Canadian pop star, 32, at the peak of her
career. The proof (above) has been staring us in the face,
according to some devoted
fans, who
point out the dark lyrics of songs on her second album,
2004’s Under My Skin. (Get it? Someone else is now under
her skin!) Examples: “Don’t leave me hanging/in a city so
dead/held up so high on such a breakable thread” (some
believe the real Avril hanged herself after the death of her
grandfather) and “I’m living a lie” (no explanation needed).
Now seems like a good time to mention that this theory
originated on a Brazilian blog post written to show “how
conspiracy theories can look true.” How true that is — just
ask the (not) dead celebs at right!
