THE SECTOR-BASED WORK ACADEMY
SECTOR-BASED WORK ACADEMIES ARE DESIGNED
TO HELP THOSE WHO ARE READY FOR WORK AND
RECEIVING BENEFITS TO SECURE EMPLOYMENT.
FOR EMPLOYERS, THEY AIM TO HELP IMMEDIATE
AND FUTURE RECRUITMENT NEEDS AS WELL AS
ENSURING YOUR WORKFORCE HAS THE RIGHT SKILLS
TO ENHANCE AND DEVELOP YOUR ORGANISATION. WE
HAVE STRONG WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH MANY
LOCAL EMPLOYERS WHICH REGULARLY LEADS TO
STUDENTS FINDING WORK.
We ran two courses this year after success last year and
gave over 40 students the opportunity to be involved in the
programme. From the first group, the majority moved on to
employment which included 16 working with the Incommunities
Grounds Maintenance Team. We look forward to continued
success as the programme develops and the work with
Horticulture employers grows.
WE HAVE ALSO BEEN RUNNING SECTOR-BASED
WORK ACADEMIES IN RETAIL SINCE 2015 AND
HAVE SUCCESSFULLY HELPED NEARLY 200 PEOPLE
FIND WORK. THIS IS DONE IN CONJUNCTION WITH
SKILLSHOUSE, WHO HAVE EXCELLENT CONTACTS WITH
A RANGE OF LOCAL EMPLOYERS IN RETAIL, AND OTHER
SERVICE INDUSTRIES.
FLEXIBLE LEARNING IN THE
COMMUNITY AND AT COLLEGE
Sometimes you need some flexibility to fit a course around your
day-to-day life. We can support you in this with:
• A range of courses at your local centre including IT, maths,
English, ESOL, Childcare, Health & Social Care and many more
• Friendly and supportive staff to help you
• High quality IT facilities in comfortable surroundings
• Flexible start dates for some courses
• Free crèche facilities available at some Community Centres
