HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA<br />

Level 3 Entitlement or an Advanced Learner Loan may apply to you<br />

This course is the recognised qualification for people working in the health and social care sector. There are three pathways - Generic,<br />

Dementia and Learning Disability. The course is ideal for an experienced care assistant with some supervisory responsibility. Students<br />

must be <strong>18</strong> or over to enrol and you must have at least one year’s current experience working in the care sector and/or have an existing<br />

relevant Level 2 qualification. As this course requires a good level of English, you will undertake an assessment during your induction<br />

to confirm your place. You will also need to have some basic ICT skills to undertake this course as you will be using an electronic<br />

portfolio, however, if your ICT skills are weak, please let us know and we can provide support with this. You will need to be employed<br />

for a minimum of 14 hours per week in a health and social care setting at the start of, and for the duration of, this course, as you will be<br />

assessed in the workplace. We will need to obtain a reference from your employer prior to you starting on the course. Please note, that<br />

although the majority of this course is delivered on a one-to-one basis, you will be expected to attend <strong>College</strong> on a Wednesday afternoon<br />

on alternate weeks, this will support you to achieve your qualification within your planned <strong>time</strong>scales. This course will help improve your<br />

promotion and employment prospects in a range of health and social care settings. After successfully completing this qualification,<br />

you may wish to further develop yourself through a range of CPD courses or if you progress in to management, you may wish to<br />

undertake the Leadership for Health & Social Care Level 5 Diploma.<br />

SAFER PEOPLE MOVING & HANDLING<br />

No fee reduction available<br />

Do you work in Health & Social Care, want to work in Health & Social Care, or have an unpaid caring responsibility for someone with a<br />

physical disability? It is vital you know how to safely and correctly move and handle the person you are caring for, and the equipment<br />

needed, to ensure their dignity. This course covers everything from the anatomy of the spine and types of injuries that can occur from<br />

unsafe practice; responsibilities; risk assessments; person centred plans; moving and handling people and equipment in line with current<br />

legislation as well as other essential information.<br />

You need to be <strong>18</strong> years old or over and physically fit to undertake this practically based course. Please wear comfortable clothing and<br />

flat shoes. Upon completion you will receive a <strong>Shipley</strong> <strong>College</strong> Certificate. Please note; you will still need training on how to use your<br />

equipment safely.<br />
