Our work-focused horticulture course could help you start a career outdoors. You will develop new skills and experience in landscaping<br />

and garden maintenance work. This is a short, intensive course where you attend 3 days per week for 3 weeks and you will need basic<br />

English and maths. When you successfully complete this award, you could progress on to our Horticulture Level 1 Certificate, or our<br />

<strong>College</strong> based course in Practical Horticultural Skills for one day a week.<br />

HORTICULTURE BTEC LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE<br />

This 10 week horticultural course has an emphasis on practical gardening skills covering plant propagation, hard landscaping and plant<br />

maintenance. Assessment is by a series of short practical tests. There will be short written and observational assessments. This popular<br />

course can lead to employment in garden maintenance, landscaping or plant nurseries. Alternatively you could go on to the Level 2<br />

Certificate in Countryside & Environment.<br />

HORTICULTURE BTEC LEVEL 3 (SHORT COURSE)<br />

This short course introduces you to the Level 3 horticulture programme, giving learners an opportunity to discover their ability and<br />

possibility of a new career direction in this 10 week course. The units covered include tree and shrub identification, care and maintenance,<br />

the construction and design of rockery and water garden features, as well as presenting planting schemes and designs. Successful<br />

completion of the course will lead to a Level 3 Certificate in Horticulture (30 credits) and provide progression to a full Level 3 Diploma<br />

(90 credits). You will need a Level 2 qualification in Horticulture or related subject or proven academic ability to study at Level 3.<br />
