This practical qualification is ideal for anyone interested in plants and gardening and focuses on helping you develop
your horticultural potential. It will help you prepare to progress towards Level 2 and 3 qualifications offered by the
RHS and other awarding organisations. This course is aimed at those with an interest in amateur horticulture or those
considering employment in gardening or self-employment. This programme is assessed by practical assessments
throughout the course.
Please note that this course is very popular and early booking is vital to ensure your place.

RHS PRACTICAL HORTICULTURE LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE

This course is perfect for gardeners who are keen to expand their knowledge and gain qualifications to start a career in
horticulture. You will focus on developing essential horticultural skills that not only offer opportunities for employment,
but also provide the foundation for further skills development at Level 3. Units include soil testing, ground preparation,
propagation techniques, establishment, care & pruning of plants and the identification of a range of common garden
plants, weeds, pests, diseases, disorders and beneficial organisms. You will carry out assessed practicals, plant
identification tests and also produce written evidence including risk assessments.
You will attend College one Saturday class per month:
In 2017 the classes run on: 23 September, 14 October, 11 November and 9 December
In 2018 the classes run on: 13 January, 3 February, 3 March, 23 March, 21 April, 19 May, 9 June and 7 July.

RHS PRINCIPLES OF PLANT PROPAGATION, PLANT HEALTH, SOILS, PLANT STRUCTURE
& CLASSIFICATION LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE No fee reduction available
This course is perfect for the serious gardener keen to expand their knowledge and an ideal qualification to start a
career in horticulture. The full Certificate is made up of two parts spread over a 2 year period. One part starts in October
2017 and you will study plant propagation, plant health, soils, plant structure and classification. The remaining part
starts in October 2018 and covers the principles of Garden Planning, Establishment and Maintenance. Assessment is
through a formal written examination at the end of each section.
On completion of both parts (over two years), you gain the full Level 2 theory certificate.
We also offer the RHS Practical Horticulture Level 2 Certificate.

RHS PRACTICAL HORTICULTURE LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE
Level 3 Entitlement or an Advanced Learner Loan may apply to you
This course is perfect for you if you have already achieved the Level 2 Certificate but are keen to expand your knowledge
and skills in horticulture. There are no formal pre-requisites for entry to the qualification, however it is strongly,
recommended that you will have completed the RHS Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture or equivalent before
you begin the course. This course offers you advanced practical horticultural skills that not only provide opportunities
for employment, but also provide the foundation for further skills development. You will carry out assessed practicals,
plant identification tests and also produce evidence including risk assessments. The course includes a number of
mandatory units including; Collecting and testing soil samples and specifying adjustments for horticulture, Collecting,
preparing and propagating from seed, Establishing and maintaining a range of plant types and forms, Identification of a range
of common garden plants, weeds, pests, diseases and disorders and one optional unit.
You will attend College one Thursday class per month:
In 2017 the classes run on: 21 September, 12 October, 09 November and 7 December
In 2018 the classes run on: 11 January, 1 February, 1 March, 21 March, 19 April, 17 May, 7 June and 5 July.
