Gala Day Fun
We had a fantastic time at the
Kilmacolm Show and Gourock
Highland Games. Junior School
pupils ran a stall with fun games -
splat the rat, strong man, beanbag
challenge and guess how many
sweets are in the jar - with all
proceeds going to Make a Wish,
NSPCC, UNICEF and SSPCA.
We will also be at Lilias Day on 3rd
June, Lochwinnoch Gala on 10th
June and Bishopton Day on 17th
June. Hope to see you there.
Village Memories
I would like to say a big thank you to the generous
local shopkeepers, who sold my book, Village
Memories, namely Alda and Johanna at the Cross
Café, Nadeem at Kilmacolm Newsagent, the staff
in the Post Offi ce and W. Gibb Stuart. I would also
like to thank people who bought copies of the
book, and those who generously gave donations
to the two research bodies, Ramsay Research
into ME and research into Motor Neuron Disease
to which projects all profi ts from book sales have been divided.
SEARCHING FOR SCOUTS
Scouts Scotland is in the process of creating new groups within Ferguslie, Linwood
& Johnstone and are looking for young people to join the new sections
We are also looking for adult volunteers who would be willing to spare some time
to join our youth movement. This is a fantastic project as it will allow the young
people within the area to improve their social development, skills for the future
and ability to access various opportunities by being involved in Scouting.
Congratulations to Lucy Blair (Senior V) who has been offered a place in the
Royal Caledonian Curling Club Academy programme. Investment is only made in
athletes who are fully committed to a development programme with the ultimate
outcome of being able to medal at world level. Inclusion to the programme is seen
as an ‘investment decision’ for future potential. An outstanding achievement.
Early Years Adventures
Our Early Years children enjoyed visits from
Greenock Fire Brigade and HM Coastguard
Greenock. The children loved sitting in the
fi re engine and rescue vehicles and had a
chance to ask lots of questions.
