Festival continues into <strong>June</strong><br />

Lilifest, the exciting festival of events<br />

and entertainment that forms part of<br />

the Kilbarchan Lilias Day Celebrations<br />

continues this year until Saturday 17th<br />

On Thursday 1st <strong>June</strong>, Kilbarchan’s favourite<br />

son, Rev Ian Miller, returns for “An Evening<br />

With” event. Everyone who has had the<br />

pleasure of his company will know that Ian<br />

is a hugely entertaining raconteur with an<br />

Aladdin’s Cave of anecdotes and jokes.<br />

A special Lilias Day-inspired quiz takes place<br />

at The Trust the following evening, Friday 2nd<br />

<strong>June</strong> whilst on Lilias Day itself Habbies will<br />

host a family fun day with a bouncy castle and<br />

BBQ. On the evening of Lilias Day Barchan<br />

Mad Comedy present another of their<br />

ever-popular comedy nights at Kilbarchan<br />

Performing Arts Centre.<br />

On Sunday 11th <strong>June</strong> Village Voices & Kilbarchan Parish Junior Choir will present<br />

theirSummer Concert at Kilbarchan Parish Church.<br />

The festival climaxes with “Habbies Hoolie”<br />

family ceilidh at the Kilbarchan Performing<br />

Arts Centre on Saturday 17th <strong>June</strong>. One of<br />

Renfrewshire;s best-loved ceilidh bands,<br />

Clamjamfrie will once again serve up a<br />

rousing evening of music and dancing on the<br />

evening of the Kilbarchan Show.<br />

All Set For Lilias Day<br />

SATURDAY 3RD JUNE, KILBARCHAN<br />

If you haven’t yet been to Lilias Day, one<br />

of Renfrewshire’s biggest and longest<br />

running summer fairs, then make<br />

sure you come this year. We have<br />

an exciting line-up of entertainment<br />

including one of our biggest parades<br />

yet with 13 fl oats taking part this year,<br />

a battle re-enactment, a tug of war<br />

tournament, circus skills workshops,<br />

trampolines, archery, a medieval camp,<br />

music tent and the return of Radio Clyde’s<br />

George Bowie as guest compere.<br />

We also have our grand prize Lilias Day raffl e<br />

where one lucky will winner will leave the park<br />

£1,000 richer. The raffl e is drawn at 4.30pm<br />

on the day and tickets can be bought at the<br />

Lilias Day committee stall in the park.<br />

Each year we ask local artists to submit a design or art work to become the Lilias<br />

Day design for the year. This years art work, ‘Parade Around’ is by Kilbarchan artist<br />

Tracy Kyle and captures the true spirit of Lilias Day. Tracy said “In my painting I<br />

wanted to include aspects of the whole of Lilias Day including the historic parade,<br />

the events that take place in the park and of course the Steeple where Habbie<br />

Simpson resides. All encompassed by the traditional bunting”. Prints can be<br />

bought at the Lilias Day merchandise stall.<br />

As ever we are delighted with the support from the community and local<br />

organisations. Chair, Graeme Stockton adds “this year we have over 40 stalls and<br />

13 fl oats taking part, not to mention three pipe bands, and the biggest historic<br />

parade in many years and a fantastic food village. Thanks to the support of the<br />

village and all who take part in the event, tens of thousands of pounds are raised<br />

for charities and good causes. Come along and show your support on the day”<br />

• 1pm - Parade leaves Tandlehill Road and proceeds through the village to<br />

the Steeple<br />

• 7.40pm - Habbie pipes his way from the Old Library to the Steeple before<br />
