Thanks are due to all the individuals and organisations that helped to
make the 10K Run another success. At least 60 people were involved
(Club members and friends as marshalls, Houston Hens at the water
station, Scouts as Km markers, Rotary Ladies for the catering, St Andrews
Ambulance, Police at the road crossings, Houston and Killellan Kirk for the
use of the halls, and Kilbarchan Harriers for timing. This was all coordinated
by Ian Jackson and the Rotary Community Services Committee (Chair
Edwin Fisher). Funds raised (about £1,750) will be donated to DEBRA.
Welcome Quaich
The welcome quaich was held recently at
Ranfurly Castle where 32 new members
took part in a stableford competition on
Sunday 7th of May.
On an excellent
morning for golf and
after breakfast rolls
and coffee the ‘newbies ‘ were teamed up with a
board member and sent out to enjoy the course. The
scoring was excellent and Grant Whyte narrowly
held off Alan Turnbul to triumph with 38 points. One
participant Craig George hit his 2nd shot at the par
4 18th straight into the hole to score a nett 1 and 5
stableford points which certainly boosted his score.
After the golf everyone was treated to an excellent
3 course lunch and a light question and answer
session was held to help bring everyone up to speed
on all things Ranfurly Castle We hope all our new
members enjoyed their day and they have many
happy golfing years ahead of them at Ranfurly
Castle.
If you would like to get any information on joining
Ranfurly Castle please contact our secretary Ronnie on 01505612609.
Ranfurly Castle Ladies
The Ladies at the golf Club have been enjoying the long dry spell of weather
with several Trophies having been played for since the beginning of May.
10th of May was the Lady Captain’s day and 32 ladies competed. Scratch
winner was Sarah Eckford with an 80, Silver Winner was Anne Robinson
(11) 72 and Bronze Winner was Vicky Rennie (28) 72.
The Greenlees Team played the first match of the season at home against
Loudoun Gowf and came out the victors by 6 matches to 3.
On 17th May the Centenary Trophy was played for with Morag Cunningham
the Winner and Agnes Williamson the Runner Up.
The golf course is a manicured area of the countryside and, as such, it is
tempting for people to walk dogs on the fairways. While the Scottish Outdoor
Access Code gives everyone certain access rights, these also mean that
they have certain responsibilities. Access rights only allow the CROSSING
of a golf course, while not interfering with any golf games or damaging the
playing surface. Dogs should be kept on a short lead and under control at
all times. Access rights do NOT extend to anyone responsible for a dog
which is not under proper control.
