Smith of the old images of the village and many characters.
There was a good mixture of old and young who thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Thanks to Brian, Pat and Crawford (For PA and sound). A collection was made for
I am delighted to have been elected as SNP Councillor for
Johnstone North, Kilbarchan, Howwood and Lochwinnoch.
It has been a busy few weeks since the election and I have
been attending Community Council and Local Organisation
Meetings, getting to know some of the key fi gures in the
Communities I now represent. With Gala season approaching,
I look forward to meeting with more of my Constituents at
these Community events. I will strive throughout my term to
foster effective relationships with the people of Johnstone,
Kilbarchan, Howwood and Lochwinnoch whatever their political
persuasion. I am in the process of arranging my surgeries and
details of these will be updated on the council website as soon
as they are available. Until then, you can contact me by email
on cllr.emma.rodden@renfrewshire.gov.uk or by telephone on 0300 300 1431.
Myself and my SNP colleagues in local wards believe in an Inclusive Society. Having
returned 11 women out of a total 19 elected members we are representative
of the Communities we were elected from. We have a positive vision for the
future of Renfrewshire and look forward to the challenge our Administration of
the Council will bring.
Six months at the Old Library Centre
I fi nd it hard to believe I have been here for six months, yet, on the other hand it
feels like I have been here a lot longer. It is such a welcoming place to work that I
fi tted in very easily and have made many new friends. Ann, The Chairperson has
been a delight and I have enjoyed hearing her stories about the past especially
about being a Mod and being in a scooter club! Then there is Ian, our volunteer
computer expert who I have had to call on his expertise many times. Isabel and
Pam who come in regularly every week. Ann, our gardening volunteer has been
working like a Trojan this week getting the garden in order. Hamish runs the
Bridge Club, and along with Elaine and Ken are stalwarts of the centre and are
often here doing general work around the building. Apart from this we have our
support group volunteers, Stuart and Helen, who come in to set up and clear
away we have events on. Not forgetting Betty who comes in twice a week to help
out.
Many interesting and colourful village characters drop in for a coffee and I’m
always happy to stop my work to sit and have a chat. I would like to thank everyone
involved in the centre for making my work here such an enjoyable experience.
I work on Monday, Tuesday and Fridays from 10am - 12noon and 2pm - 4pm.
I’m always kept very busy. It is a much busier place than what I was expecting
it to be and have had to learn some new skills and brush up on old ones. I think
I have now mastered all the different functions of the photocopier. Apart from
straightforward copying I can now enlarge, reduce, do two- sided copying and use
the scanner as well.
All sorts of folk come in to use the computers (usually when there is something up
with their own) with printing boarding passes being especially popular.
The classes run here are very popular and I have started going to the Pilates class
on one of my days off- just can’t keep away now. I have also joined the Book
Group and been to a couple of concerts.
Prior to working here I was an occasional user of the centre but I am really
surprised at just how busy it can be and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
