Wmayr, Suwaybir h. Sa'd, Tulayb b. Wmayr, 'Abd al-Rahan b. 'Awf,<br />

al-Miqdad b. 'Amr, 'Abd Allah b. Mastiid, Abn Salama b. 'Abd al-Asad and his<br />

wife Umm Salama, daughter <strong>of</strong> Abn Umayya b. al-Mughira, and Shammas b.<br />

Wthman.<br />

Also <strong>the</strong>re were Salama b. Hishm and 'Ayysh b. Abii Rabi'a who were<br />

imprisoned in Mecca until after <strong>the</strong> battles <strong>of</strong> Badr, Uhud and al-khandaq.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is some dispute over 'Ammar b. Ysir, as to whe<strong>the</strong>r or not he ever<br />

went to Abyssinia.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re also returned Mu'attib b. 'Awf, Wthman b. Maz'nn, his son al-Sitlib,<br />

along with his two bro<strong>the</strong>rs Qudma and 'Abd All&, both sons <strong>of</strong> Mq'iin. <strong>The</strong>n<br />

<strong>the</strong>re were Khunays b. Hudhafa and Hishm h. &-'AS b. W2'il, <strong>the</strong> latter being<br />

imprisoned in Mecca until after <strong>the</strong> battle <strong>of</strong> al-khandaq. 'Amir h. Rabi'a and his<br />

wife Layla, daughter <strong>of</strong> Abii vathma, also returned, as did 'Abd Allah b.<br />

Makhrama.<br />

'Abd U h h. Suhayl b. 'Amr also returned, but he was imprisoned until <strong>the</strong><br />

battle <strong>of</strong> Badr, when he joined <strong>the</strong> Muslims and fought on <strong>the</strong>ir side.<br />

Also Abn Sabra b. Aba Ruhm returned, along with his wife Umm Kulthiim,<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Suhayl. As did al-Sakrm b. 'Amr b. 'Abd Shams and his wife Sawda,<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Zam'a. He died in Mecca before <strong>the</strong> migration to Medina and <strong>the</strong><br />

Messenger <strong>of</strong> God (SAAS), <strong>the</strong>reafter married his widow.<br />

Sa'd b. Khawla, Abii Wbayda b. al-Jarr*, 'Amr b. al-Hanth b. Zuhayr,<br />

Suhayl b. Bayda' and 'Amr b. Abn Sarh also returned.<br />

<strong>The</strong>y totalled 33 men; may God be pleased with <strong>the</strong>m!<br />

Al-Bukh~ri stated, '"A'isha reported that <strong>the</strong> Messenger <strong>of</strong> God (SAAS) said, 'I<br />

was given a vision <strong>of</strong> your abode in exile, a place <strong>of</strong> date-palms between two<br />

tracts <strong>of</strong> black stones.'"<br />

Some (<strong>of</strong> those who had returned from Abyssinia) <strong>the</strong>n migrated to Medina,<br />

while <strong>the</strong> rest <strong>of</strong> those who had remained in Abyssinia did so as well.<br />

And <strong>the</strong>re is a report to this effect from Aba Moss and Asma', God be pleased<br />

with <strong>the</strong>m both, from <strong>the</strong> <strong>Prophet</strong> (SAAS).<br />

Already mentioned above is <strong>the</strong> account <strong>of</strong> Abii Masa, that being in both jahih<br />

collections. <strong>The</strong> account <strong>of</strong> Asmx', daughter <strong>of</strong> Wmays, will come later, if God wills<br />

it, and in Hi<br />

is d trust. Her story relates to what happened after <strong>the</strong> battle <strong>of</strong><br />

Khaybar, when <strong>the</strong> latecomers from among <strong>the</strong> emigrants to Abyssinia arrived.<br />

Al-Bukhari stated, "Yahya b. Hammad related to us, quoting Abn 'Awana,<br />

from Sulaymm b. Ibrahim, from 'Alqama, from 'Abd Allah, who said, 'We used<br />

to greet <strong>the</strong> <strong>Prophet</strong> (SAAS), while he prayed, and he would reply to us. But<br />

when we came back from <strong>the</strong> land <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Negus we would greet him <strong>the</strong> same<br />

way, but he would not reply. So we said to him, "0 Messenger <strong>of</strong> God, when we<br />

used to greet you, you would reply to us. But since our return from <strong>the</strong> land <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Negus, you don't reply."'
