the story <strong>of</strong> the creation <strong>of</strong> Adam and subsequent<br />

historical events, for the compilation <strong>of</strong> Old and<br />

New Testaments does not fulfil the conditions<br />

laid down for modern research and their authority<br />

lacks confirmation. The narrators <strong>of</strong> these<br />

books are men <strong>of</strong> unknown ancestry. Moreover,<br />

their own lives are shrouded in obscurity. The<br />

Christian and Jewish world knows very little<br />

about their third and fourth narrators, not to<br />

speak <strong>of</strong> the first and second narrators. But the<br />

Holy Qur'an as well as the Arab historians <strong>of</strong><br />

the first three and subsequent centuries <strong>of</strong> Hijrah<br />

fulfil all the conditions laid down by modern<br />

research. The Qur'an which is the source and<br />

foundation <strong>of</strong> Muslim historiography certainly<br />

transcends all mere conjectures.<br />

Not only according to Muslim scholars, but<br />

| also according to world historians, it is a historif<br />

cal fact that every letter, every word, every dot<br />

and every verse <strong>of</strong> the Qur’an from the beginning<br />

to the end has been transmitted to the world<br />

<strong>of</strong> today in the same order in which it was<br />

revealed twelve years before the Hijrah during<br />

the ministry <strong>of</strong> the Prophet beginning from his<br />

stay at Mecca up to the year <strong>of</strong> his death. The<br />

problem <strong>of</strong> the Qur’an is not like the problem <strong>of</strong><br />
