Robson claims that the deficiencies<br />
in the historical documents <strong>of</strong> this period<br />
were more than made up by the above-mentioned<br />

The famoushistorian Vincent Smith has made<br />
it clear that if we compare the contemporary<br />
Indian writings with those <strong>of</strong> the Greek historians<br />
who came before, alongwith and after Alexander<br />
theGreat,the latter certainly gain more in import-<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Robson has also mentioned some<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Western historians who came to India after<br />
the death <strong>of</strong> Alexander during the period <strong>of</strong><br />
Gupta and his successors. Robson also<br />
says that some Indian historians in this period<br />
wrote about some Persian and Greek kings and<br />
recorded the events <strong>of</strong> their own time as well<br />
