tain, with a variety of entertainment and sport
activities.”
He said, “The Flooded Forests of Karacabey
arouses the interests of nature lovers and enthusiasts.
In line with the recent documentary
on the Flooded Forests of Karacabey by Bursa
Metropolitan Municipality, the photos of the
region have become a focus of attention both at
home and abroad. The photos display the natural
beauty of the flooded forests.” “Karacabey
Longoz Forest, known also as the Flooded Forest,
has been awaiting the discovery of the unmatched
scenic spots and thousands of species
it has been harboring for many years. This hidden
beauty that became popular recently is now
hosting many visitors from all over Turkey.”
“The 2000 hectare Kocaçay Delta where the
Karacabey Longoz Forest is located where the
Kocaçay that has been formed when Karadere
flowing in from the Bird Lake combined with
the Uluabat River from the Uluabat Lake and
the Nilüfer Creek from Bursa meets the Marmara
sea. The diversity here has produced a living
space for many different living things while
also putting forth scenic views. Dalyan and
Poyraz Lakes with a total area of 194 hectares
are located at the western half of the delta in
“Uludağ, being one of the most remarkable assets
of Bursa, offers a unique natural beauty. We
think that Uludağ could be regarded as Turkey’s
Davos in terms of certain international standards.
Uludağ offers a splendid and panaromic view of
Bursa from Bakacak.”
addition to 600 hectares of reeds and Flooded
Forests covering an area of 730 hectares.”
“Karacabey Longoz is one of the liveliest examples
of the Flooded Forests that are about to be
extinct in Europe which put forth views worth
seeing during the summer when the waters
from the spring season ebb. Kingfisher, white
pelican, broad-billed sandpiper, bar-tailed godwit
and snake eagle are mong the 217 different
species of birds that have been detected here as
a result of the studies carried out. The region
also has a flora including special species such as
ash tree, alder, willow and loddon lily and water
lilies. With scenes that rival the savannahs
of Africa, the Longoz forests are faced with
an increased attention that will compensate
the many years of neglect. Nature continues to
amaze while making us feel as if inside a documentary
with lakes full of water lilies that charm
visitors during the spring and wild animals that
graze around national park of rich flora and
fauna. Summer activities, such as trekking and
camping, also are popular.”
“The prehistoric village, located 25 kilometers
south of Bursa and three kilometers east of the
town of Akçalar, was inhabited roughly 8,500
years ago and may have been one of the first
agricultural communities in Anatolia. Archeologists
excavating at Aktopraklık Höyük, the
site of a neolithic village on the outskirts of the
Turkish city of Bursa, are now able to piece together
more details about dress, burial rituals
and daily life during that era thanks to the remarkable
preservation at the site. Aktopraklık
Höyük is only one of Anatolia’s many well-preserved
Neolithic villages.”
“Such villages offer archeologists a chance to
peer into the critical transition period between
nomadic life and the advent of permanent settlements,
providing clues as to the nature of
early settled life.
Being an industrial hub of Turkey, Bursa has
also turned out to be a prominent tourism
center of the country. We initiated restoration
and infrastructural works related to the beaches
of Bursa particularly for Mudanya.”
He added, “As I noted earlier, we are determined
to upgrade the tourism potential of Bursa.
We put particular emphasis on the beaches
of Bursa which include Gemlik, Mudanya and
Karacabey beaches of 110 km long. The region
would serve as an ideal beach for summer tourism.
The beaches of Bursa are equipped with
up to date infrastructural facilities. From this
standpoint, the region would compete with
Mediterranean beaches of Turkey. There is no
limit to imagination when it comes to Bursa. To
sum up, we can say that a promising and bright
future lie ahead for beaches of Bursa. Bursa
will be able to reach at its targets by utilizing its
potential in an efficient manner.”
“Having a remarkable development in terms of
well-known quality standards, Bursa, judged by
a series of criteria, has been selected as one of
the best cities of the world.“
“Bursa which made its presence felt with its
charming and restructured face, upgraded its
welfare standards by launching diverse range of
infrastructural facilities, including those in the
beaches of the city.”
“Located in the Marmara Region, Bursa takes
place at the southeast of Marmara Sea. Karacabey,
Mudanya, Gemlik, Yenikoy, Bayramdere,
Kursunlu, Mesudiye, Egerce and Esence
beaches are magnificent places to enjoy yourself.”
Thermal water investments
and thermal tourism prosper in Bursa
Bursa offers a series of challenging and diverse range of opportunities for health
tourism. Health tourism has an important opportunity considering the potential of
our country in parallel with the gradually increase of receiving medical treatment,
the use of thermal sources, rehabilitation services and services that allows people
to feel good about themselves and healthy.
As known, Metropolitan Municipality
of Bursa launched a series of
far reaching urbanization projects,
including the areas of thermal waters.
Within this framework, former
leather factories of the Tanneries
Region moved to an industrial
zone.
Metropolitan Municipality organized
a tender for 22 hectares of the
region. B Plas, one of the leading
industrial firms of Bursa offered TL
70 million for the area and bought
it. Erdoğan Tan and Murat Koyuncu
of B Plas participated in the tender.
Recep Altepe, Mayor, Metropolitan
Municipality of Bursa said,
“Bursa offers a series of challenging
and diverse range of opportunities
for health tourism. Health tourism
has an important opportunity considering
the potential of our country
in parallel with the gradually
increase of receiving medical treatment,
the use of thermal sources,
rehabilitation services and services
that allows people to feel good
about themselves and healthy.”
“Bursa was once the heart of the
Ottoman Empire. It sits in a geothermal
area that boasts a number
of hot springs. This is a place
to come if you want a traditional
experience because Turkish baths
are known throughout the world.
Classic bathhouses with intricate
tile designs and arching ceilings
can be found all around the central
Çekirge District of Bursa. These
bathing venues are definitely atmospheric.
The minerals in the
waters of Bursa are thought to have
healing properties. Water is also
pumped into a number of area hotels,
which operate their own mineral
pools for guests. In addition to
the bathhouses, Bursa is home to a
number of large mosques and palaces
inherited from the Ottoman
Empire, so history buffs and sightseers
will have plenty of options in
between bathing sessions.”
Recep Altepe, Mayor, Metropolitan
Municipality of Bursa pointed
out, “Bursa thermal spring waters
come out at the Bademli Bahce and
Cekirge regions. Chemical analysis
of the water extracted from both
the regions are different and the
waters of Cekirge are called steely
waters and the waters of Bademli
Bahce are called sulfurous waters.
In order to find healing from these
waters, there are many tourists that
visit regularly every year.” “In addition
to being a trading and industrial
center with socio-economic growth,
Bursa is a significant cultural and
tourism center owing to its rich historic
and cultural background. The
Mount Uludag being a prominent
tourism center of Bursa also generates
thermal riches of the province.
For centuries, people from all over
the world have come to the thermal,
hot springs of Bursa for healing.
The thermal springs are “hamams”
with an extra hot water pool inside
and acquire hot water from nature
without any heating. All thermal
spring waters of Bursa benefiting
different illnesses was written by
several medical doctors. “
He added, “People discovered the
therapeutic powers of Bursa’s thermal
springs centuries ago. The spa
holiday with its pampering and its
health and beauty treatments may
seem like a relatively new phenomenon,
but the health giving properties
of Bursa’s natural springs have
been renowned since the early ages.
With one of the best climates in the
world, with a unique variety of nature,
as well as one of the healthiest
diets in the world, Bursa is the ideal
proposal for psychological and
physical health and the search for
well-being.”
