Ancient Thumb Readings By: Ali Guggenheim / Psychic Phenomenon “ In want of other proofs, the thumb alone, would convince me of the existence of God” - Isaac Newton. Known as the king of the palm, thumbs are the most important facet of palmistry. The thumb represents the “grip” that you have on life. Thumb readings stemmed from feet readings around 8,000 B.C. In fact, due to its accuracy, in ancient India and China, thumb assessments were used quite extensively. The Chinese were even known to determine a soldier’s assignment accordingly. The thumb is what differentiates humans from all other species. We are the only ones whose thumb rotates entirely, and is long enough to enable us to “get a grip” of things. Marc Chagall once said, “The fingers must be educated, the thumb is born knowing.” Little did he know that this small appendage occupies a large portion in the cerebral cortex of the brain, or that our minds grow because the thumb counters our four fingers. Followers of this science know that the lines in the hand determine our fate, fortune and future. However, the thumb provides more information than any part of the hand. More than just lines, it reveals our entire identity. Although most people think the thumb has only two phalanges (or phalanxes), its third part is the large muscle, (Mount of Venus) that controls it. Aside from the lines, every aspect of your thumb conveys your story. The three parts of the thumb stand for our most precious human resources. The top phalange reveals our will and strength and its tip reveals how we apply it in the world. The middle phalange shows the ability to judge and to reason. When this “diplomacy” phalange is longer than the first, it shows an ability to compromise more easily. The third phalange exposes our ability to love and vulnerabilities. During pregnancy the brain and thumb synchronize. Therefore, the lines can change every six months. The good news is that as you change your mind, your lines and life change too. Usually she gets around fine, but recently found herself in a bit of a situation. Had she known how to conduct one quick online search, she’d have saved a ton of money - and grief from her husband. While late one night watching infomercials, she saw a line of beauty products that looked amazing! They were being pitched by a wellknown ex-model from our younger days. The promises of turning back the clock and looking 25 again were too much to pass up! She promptly called the number and gave them her credit card, ordering the entire line. It was not cheap, but she thought if it produced those results, it would be worth it. The products arrived and while there was nothing wrong with them, they certainly didn’t do what the infomercial promised. She decided there was nothing in this line that she would order again, but, she didn’t have to, since the next month they were again at her door! She hadn’t ordered any more, but her card had been charged. She called the company promptly to let them know there must have been a mistake, but (of course) the original number was not the number to call for cancelling. She found herself caught in the revolving door of a monthly autorenewal system that can be difficult to stop. It took her 3 cycles of receiving and being charged for products she no longer wanted. There is a lot of online information on this kind of ordering system, but she had not seen it and therefore didn’t understand what to do to stop it. And this is not a situation unique to the beauty industry. So, if you decide to order something, here are some important things to remember and watch out for: 1. Unless you know you want something every month, make sure you have not accidentally signed up for auto-renewal. Read the fine print everywhere. 2. If you find yourself unable to get the company to reimburse you, call your credit card company. 3. Remember that just because a famous person is a spokesman for a company, does not mean the products are great, or that the company is one you want to purchase from. 4. And: If it seems too good to be true.... well, you know the rest. Linda Bateman-Gomez has an international beauty company based in Las Vegas that specializes in cosmetics and other beauty products.
