ERÍN MOURE<br />

Erín Moure is one of Canada’s most respected poets, and a<br />

translator of French, Spanish, Galician and Portuguese. She is<br />

the author of 13 books of poetry, has received the Governor<br />

General’s Award, the Pat Lowther Memorial Award and the<br />

A.M. Kle<strong>in</strong> Prize, and has been a three-time fi nalist for the<br />

Griffi n Poetry Prize. Her most recent books are O Resplandor, Expeditions<br />

of a Chimæra (co-written with Oana Avasilichioaei) and a book of essays, My<br />

Beloved Wager.<br />

RICHARD NEWSOME<br />

AUSTRALIA, EVENTS 12, 24<br />

Richard Newsome was born <strong>in</strong> Wanganui, New Zealand,<br />

and now lives <strong>in</strong> Brisbane, Australia, with his wife and three<br />

children. The Billionaire’s Curse grew out of stories he made<br />

up for his children at bedtime. The w<strong>in</strong>ner of the <strong>in</strong>augural<br />

Text Prize for Young Adult and Children’s Writ<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> 2008 and<br />

published orig<strong>in</strong>ally <strong>in</strong> Australia and New Zealand, it has s<strong>in</strong>ce been published<br />

<strong>in</strong> fi ve other countries. Newsome is now busy writ<strong>in</strong>g the excit<strong>in</strong>g sequel.<br />

ANDREW O’HAGAN<br />

UNITED KINGDOM, EVENTS 9, 19<br />

Andrew O’Hagan is the author of the novels Our Fathers,<br />

Personality and Be Near Me, which was longlisted for the<br />

Man Booker Prize. His work has appeared <strong>in</strong> the London<br />

Review of Books, The New York Review of Books, The New<br />

Yorker and The Guardian (UK). In 2003, O’Hagan was named<br />

one of Granta’s Best Young British Novelists. He lives <strong>in</strong> London, England.<br />

His new novel is The Life and Op<strong>in</strong>ions of Maf the Dog, and of His Friend<br />

Marilyn Monroe.<br />

KENNETH OPPEL<br />

ONTARIO, EVENTS 12, 22, 29<br />

Kenneth Oppel is the Governor General’s Award–w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g<br />

author of the Airborn series, and the Silverw<strong>in</strong>g saga, which<br />

has sold more than a million copies worldwide. His latest<br />

novel, Half Brother, is the story of Ben Toml<strong>in</strong>’s new “baby<br />

brother”, a chimpanzee named Zan. Oppel lives <strong>in</strong> Toronto<br />

with his wife and their three children.<br />

Kathy Page was born <strong>in</strong> the UK and now lives on Salt Spr<strong>in</strong>g<br />

2002 and her sixth, Alphabet, was nom<strong>in</strong>ated for a Governor<br />
