IRENE N. WATTS<br />
BRITISH COLUMBIA, EVENT 14<br />
Irene N. Watts is a writer and playwright who has worked<br />
throughout Canada and Europe. Her previous book, A Tell<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Time, was awarded a White Raven <strong>in</strong> Bologna 2006, by the<br />
<strong>International</strong>e Jugend Bibliothek, Munich. Irene’s books<br />
have been translated <strong>in</strong>to Italian, French and Dutch and<br />
have been awarded numerous honours, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the Geoffrey Bilson Award<br />
for Historical Fiction, BC’s Chocolate Lily Award, and UNESCO’s Playwrit<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Award for Young Adults. Her new book is No Pets Allowed.<br />
RC WESLOWSKI<br />
BRITISH COLUMBIA, EVENTS 10, 27<br />
RC Weslowski is a clown mouth full of x-ray visions<br />
attempt<strong>in</strong>g to get at the heart of th<strong>in</strong>gs. RC is the 2009<br />
<strong>Vancouver</strong> Poetry Slam-Grand Slam Champion and he was<br />
also the Poet of Honour at the 2008 Canadian <strong>Festival</strong> of<br />
Spoken Word, and 2007 runner up at the World Cup of<br />
Poetry <strong>in</strong> Bobigny, France, 2006. He has toured the UK, Europe, Canada and<br />
the US with performances at many different festivals.<br />
ROBERT J. WIERSEMA<br />
BRITISH COLUMBIA, EVENTS 20, 30<br />
Robert J. Wiersema channeled his childhood propensity<br />
for ly<strong>in</strong>g (even though he always got caught) <strong>in</strong>to the craft<br />
of fi ction, which he studied at the University of Victoria. He<br />
worked for many years as a bookseller <strong>in</strong> Victoria and wrote<br />
book reviews for Quill & Quire, The <strong>Vancouver</strong> Sun, the<br />
Globe and Mail, and the Ottawa Citizen, before writ<strong>in</strong>g his fi rst novel, Before I<br />
Wake. His new novel is Bedtime Story.<br />

KATHLEEN WINTER<br />
QUÉBEC, EVENTS 20, 62<br />
Kathleen W<strong>in</strong>ter has written dramatic and documentary<br />
scripts for Sesame Street and CBC Television. Her fi rst<br />
collection of short stories, boYs, was the w<strong>in</strong>ner of both the<br />
W<strong>in</strong>terset Award and the 2006 Metcalfe-Rooke Award. A<br />
long-time resident of St. John’s, Newfoundland, she now<br />
lives <strong>in</strong> Montreal. Annabel is her fi rst novel.
