Now that we’ve finally said goodbye to the last “Beast from the
East” it’s time to prepare for spring and summer. That’s not just
us, but our four-legged friends as well. Whether your friend is
a greyhound or any other type of dog, there are things to
remember in order to ensure they remain healthy and happy in
warm weather.
Balmy breezes can bring unwanted visits from ticks and fleas.
Your Vet can help with preventative treatment, but it’s a good
idea to check your pet regularly. You may miss seeing the fleas,
but you may find the dirt they leave behind. Regular grooming
helps to monitor your dog and most hounds love it. Ticks are a
more dangerous hitchhiker. They may carry Limes Disease,
named for the island off the east coast of America where the
disease was first identified. In 2016 ticks were also found
carrying parasites with the deadly babesiosis disease. Great care
must be taken in removing any oval, grey tick that you find.
Never just pull one from the skin. The head is buried in the tissue
and, if left behind, can result in a dangerous infection. Your Vet
can be the safest port of call unless you have the experience and
fortitude to remove a dead tick in its entirety.
You will no doubt have heard of the dreaded Alabama Rot. With
a low rate of recovery, this quick-acting disease can be picked up
from walking through infected muddy ground. Cleaning your
pet’s feet after a country walk is a good idea. Look for the “paw
bath” when you visit Clark’s Farm.

wonder. A beautiful boy with
lovely markings, walks
brilliantly on the lead and can
be a little timid around
strangers, once he knows you,
he is fabulous. Come down
and see for yourself he is the
full packet!

This is ROXY, she loves her
music, especially Bryan Ferry!
A beautiful blue brindle who
is very calm on the lead and
in the kennels. With these
looks and her great nature
we know she will not be here
for long!

beautiful little lady with an
amazing generous and
loving personality, she walks
brilliantly on the lead and is
an absolute pleasure to have
around. She won’t be with us
for long.

Few teeth left! Black
Gemma has had most of her
teeth taken out and is very
much the old lady of the
kennels. She’s a cracking old
girl retired purely through
age. She gets along great
with other dogs and is lovely
to walk on the lead, being
slightly older she doesn’t get
too excited about other
things. She would be a
perfect addition to any
family young or old.
BELLA
4 years old, small, black
Very friendly. Bella is looking
for her Edward to Cullen
spend the rest of mortality
with! A cracking little lady
who is extremely friendly and
has the waggiest tail in the
kennels, due to an injury at
the track Bella requires light
walking to begin with, can
you be the perfect owners to
imprint on her!
VICTOR
4 years old, handsome boy
Very affectionate, extremely
placid. Victor is a beautiful
natured black boy who has
retired through injury. He is
extremely calm natured and
an absolute joy to have in
the kennels. Victor walks
beautifully on the lead and
would be suited to any new
prospective owner or an
excellent choice as an
addition, he's that laid back
he just loves to watch the
world go by.
