The Tumbling Stone was recently awarded the 2017
QHA Best Restaurant (Accommodation Hotel) and The
Johnson General Manager, Andrew Edsor said the win
validated not only all the hard work and effort the team
put in to create such a great venue but also the quality
of the food on offer.
The win for the hotel was awarded within 18 months
of opening its doors which Andrew said was a great
testament to how well the staff worked as a team to
overcome obstacles in opening a new restaurant.
“[The win has meant] we’ve been able to validate our
decisions we’ve made about the Tumbling Stone and
its establishment, it’s not seen as a hotel restaurant
in that it’s not just a breakfast or dinner venue, we’ve
created a dining destination place.
“Internally, it came in our first 18 months of operation
and it was a brilliant validation for the staff who made
superhuman efforts to get the restaurant up and running.
“Their creativity, their dedication to service and their
commitment to quality of food and servicing has set a
benchmark and that has validated the effort they put
in to get past the teething problems associated with
opening a new restaurant and it’s an enormous reward
for that, as well as public recognition for their efforts,”
Andrew said.

THE STAFF WORKED AS A TEAM TO OVERCOME
OBSTACLES IN OPENING A NEW RESTAURANT.
There were several key attributes that made Tumbling
Stone different to other hotel restaurants such as its
location within the hotel, its decor and taking pride in
providing local produce.
“Tumbling Stone is a unique venue in that it’s is not
encased within a major part of the rest of the building.
It’s attached but has its own street frontage and
entrance. So it is a stand alone venue in itself,” said
Andrew.
