Alpha Box & Dice is a
boutique McLaren Vale
winery who are embarking
on an Alphabet of
Wine, where a different
wine style is created to
reflect each letter of the
alphabet. They may not
take themselves too
seriously but wine lovers
certainly are. Tarot is a
Grenache, Shiraz and
Tempranillo blend that
results in a lovely light
fruity red with a spicy
finish.
Is what happens when
you combine one of
Australia’s foremost
distilleries with a Victorian
independent brewery of
note. It is the stuff of mad
scientists but it works.
One of the hoppiest and
highest alcohol beers in
Australia ‘Where Strides
the Behemoth’ Double
India Black Ale is distilled
by Archie Rose in two exbourbon
barrels for nearly
two years. The result is a
truly unique and intense
tipple with tropical fruit
and savoury notes. It will
have you scratching your
head with how weird and
wonderful it is.
Belvedere recently kicked
off their Single Estate Rye
Vodka range, showcasing
the terroir and quality
of their Polish rye grain
which goes to making
Belvedere’s spirits. This
particular bottling was
made with rye grown on
a single estate on the
shores of Lake Bartezek.
It is one of two vodkas
released by Belvedere
with the other being
Smogóry using rye grown
on a single estate in a
Polish village surrounded
by forests. Both are
astonishingly smooth.
Black label pushes the
whiskey credentials
to the fore, taking the
original Southern Comfort
experience up a notch
with an extra-smooth
taste that is extra bold.
Subtle spice and fruity
accents are added to this
robust whiskey-forward
profile. It will appeal to
those who appreciate
the heritage of American
whiskey.
