3) Listen – Many people go to
church but they don’t listen.
The preacher is preaching but
you are thinking about what you
are going to do later or thinking
about bills or whatever. You need
to 100% focus on what God is
trying to say to you through your
preacher. God is speaking to
you but you have to be open and
listen with your heart.
You can also listen to other
preachers that you believe in
from the internet. I love it in this
day and time because we can
hear from many sources as we
study. Why not listen to a sermon
a day? It is only on average
30-40 minutes. You can do that
right? You can even listen to one
while you are doing other things.
This builds your spirituality and
allows God to talk to you through
the sermons. Are preachers perfect?
Of course not but by really
listening to what God is trying to
say to you, it allows you to grow
towards Christ.
You should also listen to trainings
on the Bible. I believe this is
very important because it builds
the base for you to know what
the Bible says. As you listen to
trainings, you start to realize
how real God really is and your
faith grows.
4) Do – So what do you do while
you are doing the other 3? You
do that is. Faith without action
is dead as James said. You can
have all the faith in the world but
when you apply what you know
to your life, that is when you
grow the most. You can’t grow
without application.
You also need to find some kind
of serving for God that you can
do that applies to your skills or
skills that you are willing to learn.
It could be something at your
church which I highly recommend
as one of the things and
you can also do other things for
God outside of the church walls
which is important. For instance,
this blog is a part of what I am doing
for God. It isn’t the only thing,
but this is applying some of my
skills to help people grow and I
have learned to love to write. I
never realized that I would love
to write until I started writing.
When your focus is all four of
those areas, you will grow. Every
Christian has slumps so if you
are in a slump right now, then just
apply these four things to your
life and it will pull yourself out
of that slump. God understands
what you are going through and
He also understands that we will
all go through the valleys of life.
It is up to you to change things
when you get in your valley.
By combining both learning your
past through self-evaluation and
applying those four things, I believe
that you will be on your way
to a better not bitter you. I know
for a fact that this will open your
heart from the angry and brokenness
that is within you. This
is not the end but the beginning
of a life transformed by God!
Living a God-Inspired Life,
I am Chris Benton. I walked
away from 19 years of addictions
over 9 years ago as God
healed me! I have also started
creating short video messages. I
run a Christian Blog and my wife
and I are launching a marriage
ministry and writing a marriage
book called “Broken Together”
because God’s purpose for our
life is to help marriages. I have
been writing for several years
now and have found a great passion
in writing.
