The people around you – your family, friends, maybe work colleagues, the neighbours; all these people and our interaction with them can affect your mood. We accept that some days are better than others, certainly when the sun is out for some this brightens them up. However, we need to look within ourselves at how we feel inside – this part of ourselves isn’t always apparent to others, such as the company we mentioned. So, what satisfies you as an individual when you look in the mirror. Our appearance to others – image, look can dominate our thoughts. This is where we can seek to improve/ change the way we look – treating ourselves with clothing, gadgets, a new car; but are we happy with a satisfied feeling, and is there are beneficial change within us? Others may not see it, but it is important to us. What about reaching out for a joyful feeling, a rewarding feeling – this is the best of me! Be shaped not by what you have, but how you live. We know when we feel the greatest rewards – supporting each other, maybe those who are finding life difficult. “Give or receive” – we know that the giving gives back. We are seeking an inner joy, for that’s the person we live with all day long, all our lives. When we reflect on people we know around us that appear to have it all, I really hope they do - only they would know: to work diligently all your working life and provide for your self and family is a good thing. A Christian evangelist said, “Live simply so others can simply live”. We need to acknowledge that we are part of a worldwide community, where some of us have grown up in vastly different circumstances. Your life may acknowledge this and reflect itself in some of the ways we live day to day – what we buy, what we give in time to each other as well as money. The former is, quite often, the most valuable gift. How does life change through Jesus – we shine through living as he did in this world. He served, he gave a gift of new life to us all through His death and resurrection. South Woodham Focus 19 South Woodham Focus OVER TO YOU..... DOG ATTACK Almost every day I walk 3 dogs around SWF, often one Westie in a pet stroller (pink). On the 2/7/18 the other Westie was attacked in Salcoates Park by the Cricket Clubhouse. The attacking dog was not controlled and pulled its head from the collar and lead. The Westie - Buster needed stitches and medical attention. The dog was a large long haired Alsation type dog. If you have any info or similar experience please report to the police on 101 ex 430011, incident number 1352 4th July. Fred CAUGHT ON CAMERA! Some aluminium double-glazed window panes were removed from the front of my property in Carisbrooke Drive on 8th July. You were caught on my cctv camera. I can only assume you thought they were surplus to requirements - wrong. I'd like these back please. Kindly return them and this will go no further. Otherwise I will have to take this evidence to the police to investigate. Carisbrooke Drive Resident Dear Friends, I said I would keep you up to date with the garden where Alex lives. We have found a new provider to take over from SCOPE. We’ve had the paths renewed, bought a greenhouse and shed and had a good tidy up. Thanks from Alex and his friends, Morley Road in Tiptree. Myself and Alan I know, will be looking down and saying that too. Marjorie Forder volunteerS needed for chelMSford Marathon Runners from across the UK will be heading to Chelmsford on Sunday 21st October to take part in the 2018 Chelmsford Marathon. It is the fifth year of this major sporting event and organisers at The J’s Hospice are appealing for more volunteers to help make it even bigger! The Chelmsford Marathon raises tens of thousands of pounds each year for The J’s Hospice charity which cares for young adults with life-limiting conditions and their families across Essex, in the comfort of their own homes or in the community. It would not be so successful without the 260 volunteers who kindly give their time to help in the run up to the event and on the big day. The charity needs people to help set up and take down the event plus there are a variety of roles throughout the day including water station volunteers, marshals and photographers along the route as well as baggage, t-shirt and finish funnel volunteers in the event village at Central Park. There really is a role for everyone! Jane Cox has volunteered as Head Marshal at the Chelmsford Marathon since it began. She explained: “I organise a team of marshals by placing them in their positions, supporting them when required and generally communicating to them the importance of their role because without them the Marathon would not be able to run. I encourage people to volunteer at the Marathon because there’s a great atmosphere and you get to be part of a big community event which is raising money for The J’s Hospice which is a fantastic cause to support!” To volunteer, please contact Lucy: lucy.burgess@thejshospice.org.uk or 01245 475474.
