iniquity doth already work.” (2 Thessalonians 2:7)
Later when he had gathered together, on his
journey to Jerusalem, the bishops, those who were
over the church of Ephesus, he said, “Of your own
selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to
draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch,
and remember, that by the space of three years I
ceased not to warn every one night and day with
tears.” (Acts 20:30, 31)
Though there are many important events in the
life of the great apostle which have been left
unrecorded, the Holy Spirit deemed it of high
importance to put on record this prophecy, to warn
us that even from among the elders or bishops there
would arise perverse leadership. This prophecy
would be fulfilled, -- was fulfilled. Until we sense
the importance of this great prediction of the Holy
Spirit and come to recognized its colossal
fulfillment, the Bible must in many things remain a
sealed book.
When Paul was warned of the coming apostasy,
he aroused the Thessalonians not to be soon shaken
