Chapter 14 The American Revision committee and its influence upon the future of America As the influence of the Oxford Movement crossed the ocean and began to spread in the United States, Dr. Hort could not refrain from writing to Westcott: “A most singular movement is taking place among the German ‘Reformation’ settled in America, the center of the Movement being Mercersburg. The leading man is Dr. Nevin. ... I can compare him to no one but Newman, and higher praise it would be difficult to give.
