CHRISTMAS CONFERENCE AND EVENTS
WAIKATO BUSINESS NEWS September/October 2018 41
Diverse experiences
from a diverse team
This year, Zealong Tea Estate welcomed
their new tourism and events manager.
Anish Singh has moved to the Waikato
Region from Auckland, where he managed
events across a range of venues. Before
that, he worked in the events space in
Scotland and India.
With his wealth of
experience, Anish
joins Zealong’s
team which comprise 25 different
nationalities and languages.
Maximising the combined
wealth of knowledge
and experience harnessed
from around the globe, Zealong
strives to provide extraordinary
guest experiences to a
diverse range of visitors.
Whether guiding a tour
group from overseas, hosting
a world leader in the executive
suite, serving a family at the
Tea House, or accommodating
a local company’s conference
in The Vista, the Zealong team
has the necessary cultural
understanding to make everyone
feel welcome.
“We feel it is important
to seek out foreign language
speakers specifically, in order
to welcome guests from overseas
in their own language,”
says Zealong general manager
Gigi Crawford.
Students of foreign language
and other subjects from
local tertiary institutions are
given opportunities to learn
while they earn, and potentially
further their career with
Zealong post-graduation.
This, alongside support of
other community and environmental
initiatives, was a factor
in Zealong’s 2016 WWBEA
Community Contribution
Award win.
The international influence
does not just stop at the
front of house – head chef
Tejas Nikam, who has worked
alongside Peter Gordon in
London and Auckland, leads
a team of passionate culinary
artists from around the world.
Together, they draw on their
backgrounds to develop the
Halal-friendly, award-winning
seasonal menus and Signature
High Tea for which Zealong is
known.
To experience this unique
blend of hospitality, do not
hesitate to contact Anish and
the team to discuss your next
event. events@zealong.co.nz |
