David Kaufman keeps it classy with smart style choices

When he’s not presenting the latest
update in the world of finance, David
Kaufman can be found traveling the globe,
most recently seen looking stylish in the
front row during the prestigious London
Fashion Week thanks to his wife, Venessa’s,
success in the world of fashion blogging.
From formal monk-straps to casual
Oxfords, Allen Edmonds is his footwear
brand of choice due to their characteristic
look and durability. T.M. Lewin dress shirts
and Hugo Boss suits are also part of
Kaufman’s well-stocked closet, as is his
watch collection, which includes a Rolex that
he hopes to pass on to his son one day.
With a preference for classic and polished
ensembles, Kaufman turns to iconic
men such as Paul Newman and James
Bond for inspiration, and he admits that
having a wife with a natural knack for fashion
has certainly benefited him.
“My awareness of the latest fashion
trends has been elevated just from being
involved in her journey,” Kaufman says.
Despite his desire to wear a three-piece
suit daily (if desert temperatures allow), the
father of two keeps things realistic and simple
on the weekends. Monochromatic, fitted
V-necks and gray, blue or black jeans with
sneakers and an Apple Watch round out his
dress code on days off.
What is your top style tip? I know this will
sound cliche, but my mentor always told me
to “dress for the job you want, not the job you
have.”
Tell us about your most prized possession.
My vintage Saint Laurent tweed sports
coat. I picked it up from an online vintage clothing
retailer and it screams sophistication (even
the smell – in a good way!). It was in rough
shape when I bought it, so I had it cleaned and
tailored to give it new life.
What are your favorite stores? In the
U.S., Uniqlo in San Francisco has to be at the
top of my list. Internationally, the Hermes boutique
just off the Champs-Elysees.
