In major cities across the world, younger<br />
homeowners are swarming back into the<br />
urban jungle. After spending years living<br />
in the suburbs, the new generation is<br />
finding cities a more appealing place to live in<br />
due to their close proximity to the workplace,<br />
educational institutions, retail outlets and other<br />
points <strong>of</strong> interest. As a result, many have made<br />
apartments or multi-storey residential buildings<br />
their home.<br />
This has presented a new challenge to interior<br />
designers. On one hand, most apartment units<br />
were constructed with limited space due to<br />
population density in urban settings. On the other<br />
hand, younger homeowners have developed a<br />
taste for finer things in life; hence there is a need<br />
to create living spaces that also appeal to a more<br />
sophisticated crowd. Such is the challenge faced<br />
by Ekaterina Lashmanova, whom was tasked to<br />
design a residential apartment for a young family<br />
situated in the imposing city <strong>of</strong> Moscow, Russia.<br />
Having graduated as an architect, Ekaterina’s<br />
creation emphasised on its space planning<br />
features in order to ensure that the apartment<br />
fulfills the practical needs <strong>of</strong> the young family. In<br />
essence, the apartment houses a living room, two<br />
bedrooms, two bathrooms, two dressing rooms, a<br />
