Dressing Down
The elegant dressing gets a reboot in the care of new creative
directors at the helm of fashion’s most refined brands. As when
it comes to fashion news, polished clothes have all ceased to
exist as social media feeds and column spaces are filled with
sartorial genres ranging from retro eclecticism to sexy expensive
streetwear with nothing else in between. Whatever happened to
clothes to go to work in, to have lunch or even to look nice in?
With a series of new hires in the fashion houses famed for their
refined elegance this season, looking nice is back. Daniel Lee,
creative director of Bottega Veneta presented his first collection
for spring. He incorporates elegance and sophistication as an
essential inspiration to his style.
Some of the other brands have tapped into the oomph of the
‘80s and it never looked more exquisite. Fashion houses
have introduced their brightly coloured A-line skirts, preppy
checkered blazers and flowing trousers which makes it look
effortlessly elegant. TM
