SLIDE AND SWING OF THINGS!

Despite the growth in ‘The hole in the back
of the house’ market for wide span doors,
consumers are often still faced with a
stark choice: a patio or a bi-fold. Most consumers
do not see the limitations of either of these
systems until it is too late or until they see a New
Wave Door.
We are still delighted by the reaction when a
customer first sees the New Wave Slide & Swing
Door System. The realisation that they can have
the best of both worlds and much more is a joy to
watch but often followed by the question, ‘Why
have I not seen this before?’
At New Wave we have been the pioneers of the
slide and swing door system which we launched
in 2013. Not only has the New Wave Door stood
the test of time but it has been developed for the
needs and wishes of the consumer and we are
very clear about what these are.
When the advantages of the New Wave Doors are
explained properly it is rare for a customer not to

A step by step guide to installing New Wave’s Slide & Swing Door System:
1For ease of transport and access, the
New Wave Door will always arrive in kit
form.
2The frame is to be assembled within the
aperture, ensuring the frame is 100% level
and square. If using packers, space at a
minimum of 450mm from each other.
3Ensuring the correct amount of kick is
achieved is one of the most common
issues for installers. As you slide a panel
over it will touch on the bottom first, this will now
leave a gap where the magnets will meet. This
needs to be between 12-18mm to ensure the
sash is lifted to a desired level. The magnet stop
located in the bottom track can be adjusted to
rectify larger discrepancies and then there is an
adjustable bolt on the sliding blocks for fin
tweaking.
4When glazing panels, ensure all sliding
panels are square glazed and only the
master door is traditionally toe and heeled.
5To operate a door, open the master door,
slide panel to that side ensuring the
magnets have fully engaged, pull down the
finger bolt located on the side of sash to allow it
to swing open.
6To close a panel, swing back round to the
frame ensuring it is fully closed, then with
your hands as high as possible pull the
sash downwards to free from magnet.

7A full demonstration to the customer is
advised to ensure correct use. Advise them
to always keep the bottom track clear and
clean of debris.
