THE Javea Players theatre
group are holding an open
day on 6 October, hoping
to find people to join them,
either as a performer or
one of the many behind
the scenes workers.
The venue is the their

own Studio Theatre in Javea
at Calle Cronista Figueres
Pacheco No 6 (near the
Mercadona/pueblo).
There will be cava and
nibbles laid on and you can
drop in any time between
12.00 and 16.00.
Come along and have a
chat, and anyone who joins
on the open day will receive a
free ticket for their next show.

THE Javea Red Cross
came to the aid of three
people who had got into
trouble in a boat off the
Cabo de la Nao last week.
They were alerted by
emergency services that the
vessel has engine problems
THERE are a number
of photography related
events on Javea’s cultural
calender during the last
two weeks in September.
On 14 September at midday
there are two talks in
the Casa de la Cultura, the
first about the rise of photobooks,
something that allows
people to show their work
without taking out a formal
exhibition.
The second at 1pm is
about the art of black and
white photography, highlighted
by a body of work
by Simon Russell
and was drifting towards the
cliffs and rocks.
This was in the early afternoon
and thankfully the
sea conditions were fair.
The Red Cross team
entitled “Madrid en Plata”
(Madrid in Silver).
On the 21 September at
midday in the same venue
there is a discussion about
whether the recent trend to
alter photographic images
through applications such as
Photoshop is a good thing.
The 1pm talk is about the
empowerment of ordinary
people on the street when
armed with a camera.
On 22 September there is
a round table session in the
launched a rescue boat and
jet ski and were able to bring
the group to safety who had
made their way into one of
the caves at the base of the
cliffs.
The damaged boat was
towed back to Javea Port.

On 28 September there
is an interactive session
for children about pinhole
photography made from a
metal can. This is at 9.30am
and the venue has yet to
be confirmed.

Water
from
the
sun
JAVEA’S drinking water
supplier, Amjasa, has installed
a pumping station
powered by 36 solar panels
to carry on honouring
their pledge to increase
the use of renewable
energy.
The electricity generated
will drive the pumps at the

La Falzia station, sufficient
to supply water to the Balcon
al Mar, La Cala and Ambolo
urban areas.
Amjasa say that the panels
have been successfully
piloted since May, and although
the summer months
are the sunniest they are
also the time when water
usage is at its highest as the
population triples over July
and August.
The firm has also upgraded
to a fleet of electric
vehicles and their long term
goal is almost total reliance
on renewable energy.
