6 FRIDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2019 www.weekender.news Mobile racket A BIG GANG that robbed at least 32 mobile phone shops across Spain, including outlets in Alicante Province and the Murcia region, has been busted by the National Police, after a two year investigation. by Alex Trelinski Eleven arrests were made in Spain, in an international operation in conjunction with Europol and Romania’s internal ministry, with people also detained in Romania, France, Italy and Sweden. Twenty-three towns and cities were hit by the thieves in Spain, including Elche, Gandia, Santa Pola, Murcia, Cartagena, and Elda. The value of the phones, that were always stolen during the night, amounted to over 700 thousand euros, and they would then be shipped over to Romania, either with the gang members, or posted in parcels. Police say inquiries are continuing with further arrests not being ruled out. Stabbed after knocking on neighbours door A MAN who went to his neighbours apartment to tell him he could see water leaking from his property was stabbed several times with a pair of scissors, suffering a serious stomach wound. The three men and a woman have been charged with 20 counts of robbery and identity theft, with authorities not ruling out further charges. The crooks operated since July 2018, and also struck in Granada, Guipúzcoa, Vizcaya, Burgos, Pamplona, Valencia, La Rioja, Zaragoza, Pontevedra and La Coruña .
