Turtle eggs hatched
SINGER-SONGWRITER Camilo
Sesto, a massive Spanish star
who had his biggest successes
in the 1970s and 1980s, died
of heart failure at the age of 72
on Sunday.
Sesto's manager, Eduardo
in a Madrid hospital after suffering
two heart attacks.
The nest was found
in July and would have
stood little chance of
survival on the busy
beach in the Castellon
province, so they
were carefully collected
and transferred to the
foundation.
The babies started
hatching at the end of
August and were sustaining
themselves on
the yolk of the egg as
they would in the wild.
They were transferred
to a water tank
last Friday and immediately
started swimming
around - quite frantically
as usually their first
encounter with water
would involve having to
They will all be tagged
and returned to the
wild when they are big
enough.
pickings for birds and
other predators.
