Newborn found in bin
AFTER a three year campaign,
Valencia has been
named as the World
Capital of Design for
2022, pipping Bangalore
in India to the post.
The steering committee
of the World Design
Organisation (WDO) have
paid visits to the city and
made the final decision
this Monday.
The designation is an
architectural one (not
fashion) based on the cities
transformation over
the years and awareness
of how design affects ordinary
people when done
well.
2022 will now see a
packed programme of
events throughout the
year which the city council
and WDO will now start
developing.
Recent holders of the
prestigious biannual award
include Seoul, Helsinki,
Tapei and Mexico City.
City was shocked to
discover the corpse of a
newborn baby in one, and
immediately contacted the
authorities.
The sad find was made in the
Pla neighbourhood on Monday
and several National Police officers
attended the scene.
The baby still had its umbilical
cord attached and had
probably been dead for a few
hours said a spokesman.
The corpse has been transferred
to the cities Medical
Forensic Institute where an
The discovery was said
to have caused a stir in the
place close to the MARQ Archaeological
Museum.
