<strong>2019</strong> <strong>Mississippi</strong> <strong>Nurses</strong>’ <strong>Association</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Convention</strong><br />
I bring many years of experience to nursing here in <strong>Mississippi</strong>. I<br />
have served in several different levels at the state and national levels.<br />
I have worked as a staff nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, and nurse<br />
practitioner and I understand the issues facing us. I will work with you<br />
to try to solve issues and move us forward.<br />
I would be proud to continue serve as your Treasurer.<br />
POSITION OF DIRECTOR, COUNCIL ON NURSING EDUCATION<br />
Candidates who have qualified for this position:<br />
Tomekia Luckett, PhD, RN<br />
Biographical Profile: Dr. Tomekia Luckett, an assistant professor of nursing at William Carey<br />
University, has been an active member of MNA for greater than 5 years.<br />
As an active member, she has served MNA in a number of capacities<br />
to include: Director, Council on Nursing Education, member at large,<br />
District Seven Executive Board Member, and council member on the<br />
Nursing Research Committee. Further, Dr. Luckett strives to embrace<br />
in clinical practice and nursing education the MNA core values of<br />
advocacy, education, research, and partnership.<br />
Dr. Luckett has been a recipient of a number of awards, and recognition<br />
throughout her tenure in nursing and nursing education. Her<br />
illustrious nursing career has mixed clinical practice, education and<br />
administration. Dr. Luckett’s breadth of knowledge in clinical practice<br />
and nursing education through teaching across all levels of nursing<br />
education provides a unique mixture of experience suited for the<br />
position of Director of the Council on Nursing Education.<br />
Statement of Intent:<br />
I would consider it an honor to serve as Director, Council on Nursing<br />
Education. As a nurse and nurse educator, I bring a wealth of<br />
knowledge and experience to the position that would be invaluable<br />
to MNA. I have taught in a variety of nursing education programs<br />
from licensed practical nursing through doctoral. These experiences<br />
have well-equipped me and provided me with an understanding of<br />
the social, scientific, and educational changes of today and tomorrow.<br />
Further, I have served MNA in a number of capacities to include:<br />
member at large, District Seven Executive Board Member, and Council<br />
on Nursing Research. I would be honored to continue to serve MNA and<br />
the nurses of <strong>Mississippi</strong> through the position of Director, Council on<br />
Nursing Education.<br />
My goal for MNA and nursing is for unity among nurses, and that<br />
we will all embrace the MNA core values of advocacy, education,<br />
research, and partnership. The voice for <strong>Mississippi</strong> nurses must be<br />
strong, and articulate in order to facilitate these core values across the<br />
state of <strong>Mississippi</strong> and country. I am committed to bringing nursing<br />
