7.3 Contingent liabilities
Contingent liabilities are:
h
h
possible obligations that arise from past events, whose existence will be confirmed only by the occurrence or non-occurrence of
one or more uncertain future events not wholly within the control of the entity; or
present obligations that arise from past events but are not recognised because:
h
h
it is not probable that an outflow of resources embodying economic benefits will be required to settle the obligations;
or
the amount of the obligations cannot be measured with sufficient reliability.
Contingent liabilities are not recognised in the balance sheet and are classified as either quantifiable or non-quantifiable. If quantifiable,
contingent liabilities are measured at nominal value inclusive of GST payable.
Non-quantifiable contingent liability
