EMPLOYEE LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT<br />

The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Botanic</strong> <strong>Gardens</strong> Board <strong>Victoria</strong><br />

is committed to the development of a<br />

skilled and professional workforce, and<br />

to providing safe and equitable working<br />

conditions. All new employees are<br />

provided with a comprehensive orientation<br />

session within their probationary period,<br />

along with a thorough induction pack<br />

upon commencement. The relevant Line<br />

Manager guides the employee through the<br />

induction pack and provides other formal<br />

support during the probationary period.<br />

The <strong>2018</strong>-<strong>19</strong> development programs<br />

included face-to-face sessions on<br />

Workplace Behaviours (including<br />

Code of Conduct), Equal Employment<br />

Opportunity, Requirements of being<br />

a Public Sector Employee, SunSmart<br />

program, Manual Handling and<br />

Ergonomics, and Cyber Security<br />

Awareness. Employees also attended<br />

conferences, seminars, field-trips and<br />

technical training appropriate to their<br />

respective roles.<br />

Topics covered by e-learning modules<br />

included Duty of Care for <strong>Victoria</strong>n<br />

Employees/Managers, Risk Management,<br />

General Evacuation, Protected Disclosure,<br />

Privacy in the Public Sector, Job-specific<br />

modules (for example, Hazardous<br />

Substances), Social and Digital Media,<br />

and Fraud and Corruption Awareness.<br />

All new employees complete the existing<br />

e-learning modules within three months<br />

of commencement. All other employees<br />

complete e-learning modules on an<br />

annual basis.<br />
