Annual leave<br />

Not including teachers, when you begin working at <strong>ADvTECH</strong>:<br />

Grades A – C get 18 working days per annum<br />

Grades D+ get 23 working days per annum<br />

After 5 years of service:<br />

Grades A – C changes to 21 working days per annum and 23 days<br />

after 10 years<br />

Grades D+ changes to 26 working days per annum.<br />

Maternity and paternity leave<br />

<strong>All</strong> employees (except casuals and independent contractors)<br />

are entitled to four months maternity leave after one year of service<br />

at full pay.<br />

You may apply for an additional two months, which will be unpaid,<br />

and subject to management approval.<br />

In total, you would need to work back 12 months, on your return.<br />

An additional two days will be granted as paternity leave for those<br />

with more than one year of service (only for birth or adoption).<br />

* Not applicable to <strong>ADvTECH</strong> Resourcing.<br />

Sick leave<br />

For auditing purposes, if you take sick leave, you will need to capture<br />

your sick leave correctly in accordance with the number of days you<br />

were booked off. For example, if the doctor booked you off for three<br />

days, the system needs to balance according to your medical<br />

certificate.<br />

If you are ill:<br />

You need to take all reasonable steps to notify your manager,<br />

(preferably before 10:00 in the morning).<br />

Original medical certificates must be submitted for any sick leave<br />

taken on a Monday or Friday, or the day before and after a public<br />

holiday.<br />

Sick leave of more than two consecutive working days will only<br />

be granted as paid sick leave if you submit an original medical<br />

certificate from your doctor.<br />

Requests for sick leave must be made through the APS User Self<br />

Service process (refer to page 24 and 25).<br />

Should your leave not balance according to the medical<br />

certificate, <strong>ADvTECH</strong> reserves the right to investigate.<br />

Study leave<br />

Employees are entitled to 10 days study leave per annum provided<br />

they are registered for a full qualification, which does not carry over<br />

to the new year.<br />

This is for the day before and the day of the exam, as well as study<br />

blocks – but you would need to discuss this with your manager.<br />

Family responsibility leave<br />

You are entitled to three days family responsibility leave in a<br />

12-month period for:<br />

Birth<br />

Death<br />

Illness of immediate family<br />
