AN ENABLING CULTURE Culture holds an organisation together and motivates the people who work there. Our enabling culture is aimed at each individual within the organisation, where each employee thinks and acts like owners – taking personal responsibility for their performance and the overall business performance. Here at ADvTECH we are lucky to have an approachable executive committee, including our CEO, who believe that establishing transparent and flexible bottom-up communication paths enables the success of each individual and ultimately the entire group. STAFF SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES DO think twice before posting: Privacy does not exist on social media. You are personally responsible for the information you are entrusted with and the content you post on social media. DON’T use your ADvTECH issued email address for any personal use on any social media. It is the era of social media indiscretion. There are many recent examples of people in South Africa who have paid dearly, posting thoughtless remarks on social media. DO understand that online activity is permanent: Everything posted on social media will probably stay online for a very long time. It is almost impossible to completely remove information from social media since there is no way of knowing where it may have been reposted and/or shared. DON’T transmit any confidential company information, customer data or trade secrets. DON’T post content or speculation about ADvTECH’s business performance, future products, pricing decisions, unannounced financial results, predictions, legal matters, stakeholders or any other confidential or proprietary information. When setting up a social media profile, most platforms give you the option to provide the name of your employer. Your activities on social media could land you in hot water, even if the incident does not relate to ADvTECH directly; your association to the company could legally see you in the wrong. DO recognise that you are entering into a social environment: Engaging in social media is like participating in a social event such as a meeting, a conference or a party. The same good manners apply. Behave as you would in the real world – consistent with the image you want to portray at work. DO strive for accuracy: Provide informed, well-supported opinions and if necessary, cite sources. Although social media is a more casual form of communication, it is still important to be factual. DON’T post any pictures of students; they provide approval for the use of their images to the respective ADvTECH brand only. DON’T post things you would be embarrassed to have your mother/boss see. DON’T speak on behalf of ADvTECH or any of its brands unless you have been placed in the position to do so. Did you know that there is an Electronic Communication and Social Media Policy? According to the policy using ADvTECH property, resources and time is discouraged and it could even be considered as an abuse of company resources. DO be respectful: Any content posted on social media could encourage comment and the discussion of opposing ideas. Consider your responses carefully and how they could affect ADvTECH, its shareholders and you. You will find more detail in the Electronic Communication and Social Media Policy available on ADvNET.
