All ADvTECH brands and individuals using IT
solutions are vulnerable to attacks from third
parties who write viruses and malicious code
to exploit user naïvete or weaknesses in
operating systems.

> > Only access data which is either your own, publicly available or
specifically authorised for your access.
> > Store Private and Confidential information on SharePoint, OneDrive
for Business and/or within the ADvTECH business systems.
> > You are accountable and responsible for the information in your
possession.
> > Information needs to be retained in accordance with the data
retention guidelines or associated policy.

software alerts.
> > Do not bypass or disable security software.
> > Report virus warnings or pop-ups that you
see in incoming communications or file
downloads to the IT Department via the

SOFTWARE USE
Your computer is pre-configured with all the
necessary and approved software for the tasks
expected of you. Wherever possible, this configuration
has been standardised within a software and
operating system set that ADvTECH IT will support.

> > Do not download or install unauthorised or
unlicensed software, especially games.
> > Do not download, receive, distribute and/or install
software applications not approved by ADvTECH’s
Group IT.
> > Software installed on your computer needs to have
an ADvTECH owned license.

MOBILE COMPUTING
While mobile computing devices like laptops, PDAs and cell
phones allow us to work wherever we find ourselves, they do
present a new risk to company information stored on their hard
drives. We must take special precautions to protect them.

> > Take extra care when using a mobile computing device in a
public place, meeting room or other unprotected area.
> > Take care when connecting your personal mobile devices to
the ADvTECH network as all ADvTECH policies apply.
> > When you are in a public space and need to share
confidential data via your mobile device ensure that you do
so in a safe way.

STORAGE USE
Make use of cloud storage before using an external hard drive or USB disk,
to avoid data loss through the loss of external drives or USB disks.

> > The network storage resources are for official business materials only.
> > All laptop hard drives and external hard drives must be encrypted.
> > Particular care must be taken with these forms of storage to prevent
unauthorised use and information distribution.
> > Removable storage devices and optical drives present many other
problems, such as virus.
