COMMUNICATION AND
SOCIAL MEDIA
IMPORTANT ‘DOS’ AND ‘DONT’S’
It is important that all employees and contractors are
aware of the stipulations and rules of the Electronic
Communication and Social Media Policy document that is
available on ADvNET (insert link here).
This policy applies to all users who are associated with
ADvTECH and whose communication in any form could be
viewed as reflecting on ADvTECH and its reputation. This
includes all users who have access to and/or use the ADvTECH
group’s communication facilities, equipment or channels.
Some of the general considerations
Employees and contractors may use social media and
electronic communication while at work to conduct
ADvTECH’s business in terms of their roles and
responsibilities, subject to the provisions of this and related
policies governing conduct while associated with ADvTECH.
The personal use of social media while using ADvTECH
property, resources and time is discouraged and where it
impacts on the productivity or role of the person concerned
may be considered as an abuse of company resources.
Similarly, private and personal use in moderation of
communication facilities and equipment is acceptable,
subject to the rules detailed in the electronic
communication and social media policy. Common sense
and good judgement should guide personal and private
usage. When employees use these facilities for private
matters, they are reminded that the purpose of provision
of such facilities is for business effectiveness and that
their communications may be accessed.
The transmission of any confidential company information
to any unauthorised persons both internally and externally
is prohibited: This include customer data, trade secrets and
any other material covered by existing company secrecy
policies and procedure. ADvTECH expects all employees
and contractors to conduct themselves in a virtual world or
when using and form of electronic communication, as they
would in other areas of life. ADvTECH explicitly reserves its
rights to defend its reputation and that of its stakeholders
in all spheres of employee life.
ADvTECH explicitly confirms its zero tolerance approach
against any prejudice or discrimination.
ADvTECH expects all representatives (employed or
contracted) to apply the same values, ethics, policies,
expectations, guidelines based on sound judgement,
respectfulness and common sense that would be informed
by ADvTECH’s own values and ethics when interacting
with stakeholders (stakeholders would include colleagues,
parents, students, alumni, shareholders, suppliers, members
of the public, media and other constituencies of ADvTECH.
This means that ADvTECH requires representatives and users
to conduct themselves online as they are required to do
in person.
ADvTECH empowers its employees and users to connect
directly and responsibly with its stakeholders using social
media and electronic communication tools when/or
where appropriate.
Any record or other content that is generated by a user
when using the communication facilities and equipment
will remain the property of ADvTECH.
