Micheline, Super HeroMicheline Masson is a superhero.Since 2013, with the support of thecommunity she has raised over$65,750. It is all done through HelpOttawa Fur Kids, an organization shefounded six years ago because shewanted to make a difference.By day she is the owner of PropertyStaged, a home staging and redesigncompany and Nature Made Honey,a local honey farm. You know thatsaying about how the best personto ask to do something is a busyperson. Well, Micheline is thepersonification of that.She states, “The feeling of helpingmake a difference in our communityis very rewarding – my slogan is ‘onlyour hearts get bigger’ because HOFKis 100% a non profit organization.I donate all funds raised from myannual online auction in Februaryto local rescue animals who need itmost. The funds are used for food,supplies, emergency vetting andspaying/neutering.”She runs Help Ottawa Fur Kids onher own and, while the organizationdoes a ton of amazing work, itbreaks her heart when she has tosay no to a family that has largeveterinarian bills. Her focus is onrescue animals. Though she doeshope, in future, she’ll be in a positionto do more. (We don’t doubt thatwill happen!!)Animals have always played a largerole in her life; this is her way to“pay forward” the love and comfortthey’ve given her.It all started in January 2013 whenshe woke up with an idea. “I reallydidn’t plan on it being anything fancy,but I just wanted to prove that itdoesn’t take much to do some good.”She’d seen so many social mediaposts of animals that needed helpthat she decided there must besomething she could do about it.Even though she didn’t have a lot ofspare time, and couldn’t bring anymore animals into her home, shetook action.One “tweet” on Twitter started itall. She asked friends and localbusinesses to donate gift certificatesand she ended up with 55 itemsraising $2,730 in just two weeks withher first on-line raffle.It fulfilled another passion of hers.As a local company owner herself,she loves helping promote othercompanies who offer amazingservices and unique products. One ofher goals is to help local businessesget noticed – on top of helping localrescue animals in need.She continues, “It is very rewardingto be able to help local animal rescueshelters and fosters. They work sohard.
