14-DAY SELF-DRIVE ITINERARY
UNLIMITED
ADVENTURES
Take an epic journey from Calgary through the Canadian Rockies to the
coastlines of the Pacific on this self-drive tour. Experience the wilderness
of Banff National Park, the magnificence of Lake Louise and the outdoor
playground of Whistler
Icefields Parkway
WHERE TO STAY
DAYS 1-2: CALGARY AND BANFF
Arrive in Calgary, collect your car then
explore the city at leisure. The next
morning catch your first glimpse of the
magnificent Rocky Mountains, as you
travel through the rolling mountain
foothills of Banff National Park.
DAY 3: BANFF
Enjoy the stunning wilderness of Banff
National Park. Take a gondola ride to
the top of Sulphur Mountain for striking
panoramic views or hike along one
of the groomed trails around its
turquoise lakes.
DAYS 4-5: JASPER
Drive to Jasper via the spectacular
Icefields Parkway, one of the most scenic
drives in the world, where crisply
outlined mountain peaks, small roadside
waterfalls and alpine meadows await.
Spend your days in Jasper experiencing
the uniquely beautiful landscape of the
national park, where serene lakes stand
in stark contrast to jagged peaks and
spectacular glaciers. We suggest a
Maligne Lake boat cruise or a ride on the
Jasper SkyTram while here.
DAY 6: CLEARWATER
Wind your way south through the vast
unspoiled landscape of the Yellowhead
Highway. A visit to the volcano-shaped
wilderness of Wells Gray Provincial Park
is well worth the detour!
DAYS 7-8: GOLD BRIDGE
Follow the Gold Rush trail of the late
1800s as you travel down the Cariboo
Highway though the stunning scenery of
the ‘Lakes Country’. Arrive at Tyax
Wilderness Resort & Spa. Be sure to
make the most of the hotel’s first-class
facilities and fascinating activities during
your stay, which include wildlife
watching, mountain biking or
gold panning. Or join a hiking excursion
to discover the surrounding area or cool
off with a refreshing dip in the clear
waters of Tyaughton Lake.
DAYS 9-10: WHISTLER
Take a picturesque drive along winding
roads, through an arid landscape that
changes from lush forests to snowcapped
mountain ranges, before arriving
in the premier resort town of Whistler.
While here, hike trails through high
alpine meadows, or horseback ride past
spectacular glaciers. Then relax in the
enchanting village and enjoy the
boutiques, bars and restaurants.
DAY 11: WHISTLER TO
VANCOUVER ISLAND
Travel the amazing Sea-to-Sky Highway
through ancient rainforests and
provincial parks carved by glaciers to
Horseshoe Bay where you will board a
ferry across the Strait of Georgia to
Vancouver Island.
DAYS 12-14: VANCOUVER ISLAND
Explore Vancouver Island’s rugged
coastlines before heading to Pacific Rim
National Park – a marvel of ecological
diversity with dense rainforests, steep
ravines and windswept beaches.
Drive to the east coast of Vancouver
Island through quaint seaside towns to
Victoria, the capital of British Columbia.
This beautiful city has a fascinating
maritime heritage and colonial charm.
Visit the harbour area and the Totem
Poles of Thunderbird park or enjoy high
tea at the Fairmont Empress Hotel.
Before you leave Vancouver Island, be
sure to visit Butchart Gardens, a
magnificent display of flowers and shrubs
set in an old stone quarry. Enjoy the
stores, parks, restaurants and other
attractions of downtown Vancouver.
DAYS 15-16: VANCOUVER
Situated in a magnificent setting among
the beaches, harbour and steep Coast
Mountains, Vancouver is the “Jewel”
of North America’s Pacific Coast. Don’t
miss a visit to the amazing Capilano
Suspension Bridge Park before
making your way to the airport for your
flight home.
