City is pioneer in good ideas
Complete network guarantees
quality service
Sorocaba has a complete service network. There are
32 basic health units, seven emergency care units, three
pre-hospital units (UPHS) and one UPA - Emergency
Care Unit, in addition to 14 units of the Family Health
Strategy, which guarantee medical and nursing care for
regions of Brazil of greater vulnerability.
Concerned with optimizing strategic actions for
health promotion, Sorocaba City Hall implemented
the Home Care Service 20 years ago, better known as
Family Doctor, an initiative that gave rise to the Better
at Home Program, developed throughout the country
with support of the Federal Government.
In 2012, Sorocaba was also the first city in the São
Paulo countryside to be part of the Samu and Fire Brigade
regulation center. In the same room, the regulatory doctor
and the officers work together to assess which type of care
is most appropriate for each occurrence.
Another innovation of the Sorocaba City Hall in the
health area was the implementation of the pink and
blue buses, aimed at promoting the health of women
and men, respectively. The service is carried out in
an itinerant way, facilitating the access to residents of
different regions of the city.
To ensure even more quality and safety to patients,
City Hall hired, through a public tender, 56 new
professionals, of which 40 are doctors. All services are
being modernized with the implementation of electronic
medical records and the acquisition of new computers
for basic health units.
New Polyclinic
should expand health care
Sorocaba has a Polyclinic that offers 42 medical
specialties to the population and is a reference in the
region for various services, such as high-risk prenatal
care, high-risk newborns, tuberculosis, leprosy and
dental specialties. The City Hall’s proposal is to build
a new unit and offer even more comfort, quality and
resolution to patients.
Child mortality presents
reduction in Sorocaba
Child mortality rate in 2018 reached the number of
10.3 per thousand live births. The rate of the city was
lower than that of the State of São Paulo (10.7) and the
Metropolitan Region of Sorocaba (12.3). According to
the City Health Department, the city has been presenting
reduction since 2014, reflecting improvements in
the condition of health services, housing, nutrition,
education, socioeconomic factors and other investments
prioritized by the Municipal Administration.
“
In 2012, Sorocaba was also
the first city in the São Paulo
countryside to be part of
the Samu and Fire Brigade
regulation center.
