BRORA
The Brora distillery dates from 1819. It has changed ownership numerous
times since then and is currently in the hands of Diageo. Despite being
owned by such a large company, the Brora name has retained a certain
cult status. The extremely rare single malt bottlings currently available
hail from the distillery’s swan song years in the late 1970s and 80s,
and are characterised by an oily, almost waxy texture, with mineral and
marine flavours, and a lemony acidity. Many bottles, such as the Brora
30yr Old, also possess a powerful, peaty palate.
