RED BORDEAUX
FIRST GROWTHS
CHÂTEAU HAUT-BRION
Château Haut-Brion is in the region of Pessac-
Léognan and the only wine estate outside of Médoc
to be included in the 1855 Classification. Different
soil type is a notable factor that distinguishes its
wines from the other first growths. Haut-Brion is
considered the oldest estate in Bordeaux, with the
longest history of vines being grown on its land.
It is a very innovative estate that embraces new
technologies to produce consistently outstanding
wine.

CHÂTEAU MARGAUX
Château Margaux owns one of the grandest
and most impressive buildings of all the Médoc
châteaux, built in the early 19 th century. One of
the world’s most celebrated winemakers, Paul
Pontallier, worked at the estate for over 30 years
until his death in 2016. He produced a fantastic
range of wines, even in lesser vintages. A bottle of
1787 Château Margaux holds the record as the
most expensive bottle of wine ever broken, insured
at $225,000.
