RHONE VALLEY
STÈPHANE OGIER
Michel Ogier is a relative newcomer to the top league of Rhone
producers, but has cemented his excellent reputation prior to handing
over to his son, Stèphane. In the past, the entire harvest was sold to
larger companies such as Guigal and Chapoutier, but in 1980 the family
decided to make wine in their own name. Stèphane puts a greater focus
on single vineyard expression. Stylistically, the wines of Ogier tend to
lean towards finesse and elegance rather on broad structure and power
– as is the case for some producers in the area.

YVES CUILLERON
Yves Cuilleron is described by Wine Spectator as “the leader of Condrieu’s
new generation of winemakers.” He is the fourth generation of Cuilleron
winemakers and although he first had his eyes set on becoming an
engineer, his passion for fine wine eventually brought him back to the
family estate. Since 1987, Yves has been in charge and has expanded
the plantings to an impressive 75ha of vines in various appellations. The
most sought-after of his wines are nonetheless from Condrieu.

JABOULET
Originally founded in 1834 by Antoine Jaboulet in the Northern Rhône
Valley, the company today enjoys an excellent reputation, as much
for its everyday wines as for its magnificent Hermitage La Chapelle.
Jaboulet is the largest vineyard owner on the hill of Hermitage, with
22ha. The vineyard is filled with Syrah vines, of which the finest parcels
goes to the top cuvée of La Chapelle. The 1961 vintage of this wine
is considered as one the century’s best wines and is a legend among
collectors. Subsequent vintages have also gained top scores from wine
critics.
