HAND BUILT
IN FRANCE
THE SHERCO SE 300
Let’s face it. There are some great
300cc 2-strokes on the market at the
moment – and to be quite frank there
really is no bad choice. But if you
want to stand out from the crowd –
then you’ll want to look at the Sherco
brand. The local importer offered us a
ride…
It’s been a long time since we got to
swing a leg over a Sherco. In fact… if
memory serves the last test was cut
short by a puncture and we kinda limped
home to change tubes. This one has
mousses fitted so there was no excuse
not to have a great time.
When Sean dropped the bike we were
given huge lectures about how new the
bike is – just uncrated and prepped – and
don’t even think about scratching it of
scuffing it with your boots…
Oh well… We’ll try!.
FACTORY
Two of our riders took the bike out – our
resident rock rabbit Kyle Lawrenson hit
some of the Gnarly rocks we know and
then the more chilled weekend warrior,
Glenn Foley took a few fast-ish laps (well
he thought so anyway…) at our spot.
So here you have opinions from two
very different but equally experienced
riders. We got into trouble because we
kept the bike for a little bit longer than
was scheduled – and young Sean had
a grump looking for the guys to get the
bike back…
The Bike:
With the pandemic and its effect on
travel and racing, most would imagine
that Sherco would have a small year in
‘22. But not so. They have introduced
some pretty cool updates for 2022.
Steps not leaps.
A couple of issues back we brought you
all the updates to this brands lineup – but
here’s a re-cap. The updates are typical
of the French manufacturer. They are
steps forward rather than leaps but that
is standard practice for Sherco who more
often prefer to keep the updates coming
year-on-year rather than make jumps
every few years.
The new, blue graphics and plastics are
fresh enough to mark the different model
year and they maintain Sherco’s standapart
looks on the back of your bakkie as
well as out on the track and trails.
Sherco’s Enduro range is split into two:
The Racing models are actually less
racey with a ‘softer’ setting and lower
price tag alongside the Factory models
which come equipped with a long list of
upgraded parts as standard making them
better suited to racing. Kapiche?
This one is the 300 Factory.
