Controls all make perfect sense – 1, 2 and 4wd on the fly via a
button on the dash. Easy automatic gear selection – Hi, Low,
park and reverse – all up and down operation via a lever on
the dash. Two pedals in the foot well – go and – errr stop – so,
it’s literally childs play to get going. Two charging ports are
conveniently mounted on the dashboard and the neat little digital
display tells you everything you need to know about what the
Ranger is up to. So easy and convenient to hop in and tear off
down the track.
But that all sounds kinda same – same as previous and other
utility models right?
Well – this one’s different, and it all starts with the parallel twin
engine that is, quite frankly brilliant. We’d wager that the Ranger
will give some sports machines a proper run for their money.
Put your foot down – and in a few heartbeats, the car is toodling
along at more than 100KPH. And she gets there quickly. On
longer roads, we saw 120 – and that’s more than fast enough for
a machine like this.
But wait! You know the old Cliché’ that goes: Power is nothing
without control? (Sorry Pirelli!) Well it’s true – we’ve seen how
many people hot their machines up – but they simply do not
handle. Well – out of the box, this one does. And to be fair,
we have often harped on about how well the Polaris Brand
makes this happen – but, certainly for what is branded as a
utility machine, this one is quite exceptional. The combination
of a wide chassis, big steel wheels shod in decent rubber and
suspension that travels longer than your favorite uncles tallest
tales combine to give an amazingly plush ride.
You need to drive one at speed to understand just how good it
all is.
And… Oh Yes! Did we mention that they have included power
steering? It’s magnificent! It literally removes any effort.
