THE GREATEST
RANGER
EVER?
The Polaris Ranger 1000 EPS.
Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.
Stefan our Photographer passed a comment while we
were out shooting this machine the other day. “Glenn –
you’ve been testing and driving these things, basically
since they were invented!” That’s some food for thought
– and thinking back, he is probably correct. And not Just
Rangers – but every other brand along the way…
The early utility UTV’s were just that. Utility. Whilst they are
geared to torque and work capacity – most of the time, they
are limited to low speeds with adequate suspension.
Polaris seems to have thrown that business model clean out
of the window. We’ll tell you for free that this new 1000 is
basically a sports UTV, with a tremendous capacity for work.
In the work department, they give you a pretty large machine
– it JUST fits onto the back of our H100 Hyundai Bakkie. It’s
got loads of carrying space in the tipper Bak out back. In the
cab you get comfy, spacious moulded seating for 3, 6 Cup
holders so you’ll battle to get thirsty, and nooks and crannies
to stash everything from stock sheets to laptops and cell
phones.
Safety wise you get over shoulder seatbelts – and if the
driver does not plug in, the Ranger will limp along slowly.
Polaris has improved the design of the safety net doors and
the roof, bolted onto the sturdy cab chassis keeps the sun
off your pip.
