NEW DT OCT 21

The 65cc class was dominated by Jariegh van
Lill 424 who, after some recuperation time since
the previous event at the end of May, was racing
ahead of his 65cc compatriots and even giving
the 85cc riders some strong competition! Ryan
Gulliver J106 and Michael Enslin J277 were
having a ding-dong battle over the two days for
2nd and 3rd places in their class, with AJ Basson
getting a peep in on the first day.

The Senior 85cc class saw strong riding at the
front with some of the top riders in the class having
bike problems which saw them having to pull
out of the race for Day 1 but more than making
up for it on Day 2.

Junior 85cc saw some really unusual events as,
on Day 1, one of the top juniors was lost for a
time until the marshals found him digging his
bike out of the mud with his hands and helped
him to get out and back to the pits. As his dad
said afterwards, he showed the pluck to keep on
going, not give up and was determined to finish
the event.

Ladies Intro. was raced and won by Amy Rademeyer
C275 who enjoyed the flowing and fast
sections on the first day which contrasted greatly
with the more technical loop on Day 2. Although
the mud played a BIG part, overall she enjoyed
seeing everyone and the event was great fun.
Ladies Senior class, although small, has plenty
of tough ladies in it. And with the mud on
the weekend they had to be! On Day 2, after
taking a left line through a mud puddle (which
turned out NOT to be a puddle!) – Angie then
spent over 2 hours digging her bike out ...
maybe shovels should be part of the issued
equipment on the day! Riki Mans also fell victim
to the mud monster when her chain gave
up struggling with the gelatinous goo and
stretched so much she was unable to finish.

In the 125cc class there was strong competition
at the front of the pack and the top three
managed to each retain their standings on
both days. The boys enjoyed the more technical
tracks up the mountain where the enduro
riders had a bit of an advantage but overall
the track was rated to be tops.

The 200cc class also had its share of ups
and down although the top two retained their
spots while the rest of the field fought their
way through the many tough sections of the
course.

In the Regional Open the riders were impressed
with the track on the first day with
its mix of flowing and technical. Quite a few
found lots of mud to land in with one or 2
needing help to get out of fences they veered
into.
