March 1758. When will was proved the son James Collins was out of the state of Virginia.<br />

John Brockman, (2) Kelly Jennings, Susanna Collins married William Gholson and Joseph Collins was a son who<br />

died prior to his father, Amy may have been his child.<br />

June 3, 1765. John X Collins of Spotsylvania County, Planter and Ann his wife, to John Mitchell, William Scott<br />

and Hugh Lenox of Fredericksburg, Merchants L90 currency in branches of Po River, in Spotsylvania County,<br />

Wheras, Joseph Collins; late of Spotsylvania Co., Deed by his will, dated 7 August 1757, among other things,<br />

loaned to his wife, Susannah Collins, his whole estate, etc. during her widowhood, and after her marriage or death<br />

the executors of said will were to dispose of the estate and the said will directed the money arising from the sale<br />

of land be equally divided between his four sons, to wit; James, William, Thomas and Lewis Collins and whereas<br />

said James, living in Essex County in 1718 and 1728.<br />

Joseph Collins, son of Joseph Collins and Catherine, married Susannah Lewis, probably daughter of Zachary<br />

Lewis, His will, dated 27 August 1757, Spotsylavinia County, Virginia naming children: John, James, William,<br />

Thomas, Lewis, Ann Wisdom, Mary Brockman, Susanna Golson, Tabitha Gatewood, Drucilla Cook and Caty<br />

Glaze, as well as his wife Susanna, and grandaughter Amy Collins. Executers were sons John, James, William,<br />

Thomas and Lewis Collins. At the time of Joseph's death, his son James, was already in North Carolina. Thomas<br />

Collins and John Collins Jr., gave bond as executors, 1st November 1757, with securities John Collins Jr., and<br />

Edward Collins. This was filed in Court of Spotsylvania County, Virginia, March 9th 1758. ( Edward and John<br />

Sr. would have had to be 21 years old to serve as "securities").<br />
